UC Berkeley has 3 of the top 5 IP Professors in US. Since I always had an inclination towards the subject during my BA.LLB as well, I wanted to go in-depth with Intellectual Property Laws. Thus, I did not opt for the specialisation certificate because I would have to take general IP courses to meet the basic requirement. These courses would have taken up many credits. Instead I took courses and seminars like the course of Advanced Copyright Seminar under Prof Pamela Samuelson, IP and Tech offered by Haas Business School.
Its important to keep your options open and choose a college based on your subject of interest. This ties up with the recommendations provided on your behalf, as it should be related to what you are keen to learn/explore during LLM. Also, application deadlines are important as different countries have their own systems.
I was one of the LLM Representatives for Boalt Hall Student Association. This presented me with the opportunity to interact with Supreme Court J. Sonia Sotomayor when she gave a talk in Zellerbach Hall, Berkeley. It was an honour!
